About Southaven, MS - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Southaven is a DeSoto County, Mississippi suburb located outside of Memphis, Tennessee. As of 2010, the population in the community was nearly 49,000, which makes the city the third largest in Mississippi. Despite its name, Southaven is actually located in the northwestern corner of the state, and it was given its name due to its location south of Whitehaven. Other neighboring cities include Olive Branch, Horn Lake, and Hernando. Southaven is known for being the childhood home of famed writer John Grisham, who also lived and practiced law in the community for nearly 10 years.

Southaven is a great city to both live in and visit. Educational opportunities are available in this community to prepare residents to contribute to the local economy, including the University of Mississippi – Desoto and a campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College. Southaven Towne Center is one of the most popular destinations in the community, and this open-air shopping center features department stores, specialty shops, and restaurants. The Snowden Grove Amphitheater attracts visitors from all around the region who want to check out musical performances and other venues in this outdoor space. If you are looking for something to do on a Friday night in Southaven, other performances can be enjoyed at the Landers Center and Malco DeSoto Cinema.

Summers in Southaven are persistently hot, so it is important that homeowners have an efficient air conditioning or other cooling system in place in order to stay safe and comfortable during these months. It is not uncommon to reach the mid 90s for temperatures during the peak of the summer, and the moisture that moves north from the Gulf make conditions extremely humid. Severe weather is also possible, as Southaven was hit by an EF2 tornado in the summer of 2008.

While residents may get a time out from the heat in the fall and spring months, winters can also be unpleasant. While winters are typically mild, cold snaps do occur. An average Collierville winter will see about six inches of snow, so a furnace or heat pump will be required in order to stay comfortable throughout these months.
